Gearing Up for Rock&Road

Muddy Bike

Here at The Smugglers Hostel, we’re just a wee bit excited about Tomintoul & Glenlivet’s first bike festival. The inaugural Rock&Road Festival takes place this year from the 9th-11th May and is going to transform our village into a hub of free-wheeling mountain biking and road cycling activity. The main events are Saturday’s Smugglers Soiree, a MTB race with distances of 54km and 80km, and Sunday’s Spirit of the Glen Sportive at distances of 110km and 146km.

Our streets will also be graced by pro freestyle BMX rider, Keelan Phillips. You may have seen him on Channel 4’s Concrete Circus – if you missed it, take a look:

Not only will he be demonstrating his skills, he’ll be offering free coaching – definitely don’t want to miss that.

As if that weren’t enough there’ll be a climbing wall, a pump track so that all ages can get involved, guided MTB and road rides by day and by twilight, film previews, downhill tasters, a demo day hosted by BaseCamp Bikes, traders market, family events, children’s skills sessions, penny farthing sprint and a tea party featuring local craft beers and live music – it’s going to be an epic weekend.

Don’t miss out – we only have 20 beds, so book yours quickly! See Prices & Booking above for more info.
